The next day at school, Kong is telling his friends that he could've made a large amount of money because the Daily Bugle was offering a fortune for pictures of Spider-Man. Peter overhears this and decides that he will take a few pictures of Spider-Man to get some money since, after his Uncle Ben's death, the money problems are all on Aunt May's shoulders and he should help out a little bit. Later that week, he turns in the pictures to J. Jonah Jameson, who gives him the minimum for only being fifteen years old. However, during his time at the Daily Bugle, Betty Brant has a problem with her computer and Peter is able to help out, by fixing the problems their website was having with the script. Jameson gives him a job to work on the internet so that Jameson never has to hear about it again. After a nightmare Peter has about Uncle Ben and the murderer, Peter gets inspired to do something. He goes onto the website of the Daily Bugle and types in the murderer's ID or Social Security number (the one he had take previously) and looks it up. He realizes that his uncle's killer used to run around with the Enforcers. Soon, he realizes that they work for Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. He tracks down the Enforcers and asks them where he can find the Kingpin. Mr. Big tells him that one Friday night that there is gala that is very important for the Kingpin's future. Just as Spider-Man asks who he is, the FBI come in and Spider-Man escapes only after having Mob Boss pinned on his head. The next morning, he sees the headline. Flustered he goes to school, where he sees that Liz has finally had enough of Spider-Man after Kong keeps talking about how cool he is. Mary Jane sits next to him and asks him to a movie on Friday. Peter turns down the Friday but says Saturday morning instead. That Friday, he, as Spider-Man, goes to the penthouse of Wilson Fisk. He enters but sets off an alarm. Fisk enters and quickly crushes his web shooter demanding to know who he is and who he works for. Spider-Man kicks him and manages to get away but Electro manages to subdue him by electrocuting him. They unmask him and then throw him out the window, taking his mask. Peter wakes up on Saturday morning and gets a phone call from Mary Jane asking about the movie. Peter, sore, turns her down and gets really mad about it. Later, Fisk calls Mr. Big, after discovering he had sold him to Spider-Man, kills him by crushing his head with the Spider-Man mask. They then toss him in the Hudson River. It shows up on the news that Spider-Man is a suspect in the case of Fredrick Foswell's murder. Peter, at school, decides to create a false e-mail to figure out about the security system Fisk has, because he decides to gather his evidence against him through that. He then is called down to this counselor who asks him questions on how he feels about the recent attack at his school. He walks out and sees Liz ready to go in. He then runs to go check his e-mail to see if he had been e-mailed back, but to no avail. After his next period he runs into Mary Jane, who tells him that she is still angry with him. Peter wants to amend for it and decides he might tell her that he is Spider-Man. When he gets home, he realizes that there is a CD storage for any recorded data for the security. Spider-Man quickly invades the security and knocks out the guards. He gathers as many CDs as he can in a backpack before the Enforcers and Electro show up. After a small skirmish with them and the Kingpin, he gets out of there. It is later revealed he gives all the CDs (except for his unmasking) to Ben Urich, a reporter for the Daily Bugle. With the evidence given, Peter asks Mary Jane to meet the next day. He then reveals to her that he is Spider-Man.
